OK, I posted something similar before.

From prior posts and recent infiniti press release with MPG, the hybrid is supposed to get, max highway MPG of 36. City is probably 29. I'll use 33 as an optimistic overall MPG.

The prior V6 infiniti engine was 21/27 for a combined of about 24 MPG.

Both q50 (non hybrid and hybrid) have 18 gallon tanks.

Price of premium near me is $3.76 per gallon today. (Your location will vary).

Range of hybrid therefore is 594 miles (18 gallons x 33 MPG) if you drain the tank.

Range of non hybrid is a respectable 432 miles (18 x 24 MPG).

Cost is same either way for one tank - $67.68 (18 x $3.76).

I drive 13,250 miles per year average on my current 8.5 year old car.

That's $1,510.00 rounded up for the hybrid and 22.31 tanks per year.

Non hybrid is $2,076.00 rounded up and 30.67 tanks per year.

difference is $566 per year. Hybrid costs $1650 plus tax (7.75% here) so about $1773.75. $1773.75/566.00 is about 3.13 years.

Both are fully loaded AWD Sport (non hybrid and hybrid) which is the only version that holds my interest.

You also save about 7 trips to the gas station per year. Only a Tesla would be fewer!:D

So if you are leasing for 3 years, it would basically be a wash either way, if I'm getting the math right......and believe me, math is my kryptonite so I may not!
The automatic G37 is 19/27 combined 22MPG.

Q50 non-hybrid has 20 gal fuel tank
Thought both were 18. Either way, the cost basis would be same for same amount of gas used (18 gallons).

I agree a lease at 3 years is a wash. You either pay for it up front in a hybrid and then reap less gas usage or you don't pay for the hybrid and presumably have a lower lease payment and pay it at the pump.

Variable would be gas price.

I've never owned a G37 V6 but 19 plus 27 divided by 2 is 23. I gave is a little bump up, presuming mixed driving. My car is an Acura TL 2005 and supposed to be 21/29 but I get 26 MPG overall. Mine is a 6MT though. I do about 60/40 highway/street.
It's all depend how much premium gas in your area plus how much mileage you drive per year.
For mine case, I drove 15,000 miles and premium gas in my area mostly around $4.30 per galloon.
Let say the combined MPG for the Q50 non-hybrid is 23 and Q50hybrid is 33.
For Q50 non hybrid cost me $2804 per year.
For Q50 hybrid cost me $1722 per year.
That mean I will save about $1078 per year.
So, the hybrid will paid itself in less than 2 years for me.

For me it's well worth it since I plan to keep the car for at least 10 years.

But what about the trees!

kidding.

I was hoping for some acceleration bonus out of the hybrid as well.
And don't forget those special hybrid parking spots at ikea! haha
I would love to have the hybrid, but the increased weight and complexity scare me off. I plan to keep this car for 10 years, so i want my car to be as simple as possible - so no AWD, no hybrid and lithium battery. Just tried and true stuff.

Which is also why I want to buy in the first year - buy the tried and true Nissan VQ engine before the forced-fed turbo-four Mercedes engines are put in. Don't want complexity of turbos, and don't truest Benz reliability.
