That would be me. I thought this deserved its own thread. On a scale of 10 I would give drive off simple a 15. This guy knows his stuff. I don't know if you guys remember from a few months ago when I stated I was only 22 (at the time, 23 now). I'm not an expert at negotiating as the Q50 is the first car that I'm actually purchasing on my own. My previous three was my first from my dad. Second and third my mom and she handled all the negotiations. Drive off simple made it incredible easy negotiating on my behalf all while keeping me in the loop with phone calls, emails and text messages. On behalf of my pockets, I would like to thank you sir for saving me 2000 dollars. I will post pictures by weeks end. What are you guys paying for your Q50s fully loaded? I'm asking just so we can all compare.

Keep in mind my deal is not even close to being finalized.... but if it holds to what we have discussed to date:

MSRP: $49,035
Neg Sale Price: $43,209
Aggie and Owens got vpp so its not a fair comparison.
I right?

What's the difference? What someone pays is what they pay no matter how they got the discount.
I got about $120 off MSRP, plus $1000 extra in my trade in over what CarMax and others were offering, window tint, wheel locks and splash guards at no extra charge. So about $2000 in benefits in total.

My trade in car needed about $2500 to $3500 in repairs anyways, so I could not wait. i don't regret it.

Well, not exactly. VPP, fom what I understand, is pure invoice to the customer but Infiniti pays the dealer - I believe I read about $2000 +/- so the dealer is still making about $2k plus holdback, etc. when they are giving deals, this is even better for everyone.

Now that many dealers are trying to get MSRP, the difference would be them making about $4500+/- in profit (I think 9% above invoice is a number I've heard) if they sell at MSRP.

Some will be able to get away with that, others won't. Depends on the market, the model you want, the dealer's goals, etc.

So when people are listing their 'negotiated' prices, I think it would be helpful if they mentioned that they got VPP. Just helps with expectations.

I don't think there is a very good chance someone could get a Q for invoice right now without VPP. With Infiniti giving about 5% back to the dealer with VPP, that makes it easier for em to swallow.

In negotiations, I would probably target that same amount of profit to the dealer. Maybe split the 9% down the middle. Just my approach. Again, there are some dealers who will tell you to pound sand if you ask to do this. Others may bite. You never know until you ask.

If you don't need the car right away, or if yu can wait a while there will most likely be deals out there. It's still only a week out of release so the dealers are still trying maximize profits so willingness to deal may be limited.

splash guards at no extra charge

Gandhi, were the splash guards installed at the port? My dealer said he had to order them separately, and that he will install them when they arrive. He said that they weren't available when he ordered the car for me.

not installed yet. They have been ordered. They will install once they come in. Dunno when though.

The thread is about what kind of deals people can reasonably expect to negotiate. If VPP isn't an option for us, then it's not really relevant.

Would you consider going to other dealerships ?
I have already, there are 3 majors in the DFW area, and the third one is full of internet horror stories, but if they have the configuration I want at the price I want, I will buy from them and have it serviced at the one I have had all my current service done at.
Without VPP, you guys can get 4-8% off the MSRP depending on what you buy and what relationship you have with the dealer. Dealer will make $2k as kickback from Infiniti.
The dealer in Tallahassee Fla. has most of the cars listed almost $3k above MSRP. I don't mind paying close to MSRP for a brand new edition for a new car, but I'm not going to pay that much more, especially when I'm hearing of people getting up to $4k off fully-loaded hybrids. I hate you VPP people(only because I'm jealous :p)

Too bad it's not Prestige Infiniti anymore. They didn't operate that way. When I bought the G35 as soon as they came out(March, 2002), they gave me $1,000 off MSRP. And I got the GCoupe on Oct. 31, 2002(the day before the official release), at MSRP. Good luck hunting for a better deal.
Thank you!

Thank you Mrkalu, the kind comments are much appreciated. And just so everyone is clear on this, these savings were achieved without VPP, which the average consumer is not entitled to. In my time at Infiniti, out of the hundreds of people I helped, only a handful got VPP. If you want help saving on your Q50, please submit a contact request form on my site and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I'm also currently working as a tutor to support myself as well as the operating costs of the company, so please keep that in mind with regard to response time. My vision for Drive Off Simple is to gain enough support through donations to hire a large team of experienced negotiators who can continue to provide this free service to people nationwide. This is REAL, support us if you want to see this movement grow. Thanks.

Yeah, I almost put in a disclaimer.... but that isn't what he asked. I was Keeping it simple, and answering the question.

So to be more specific, I was quoted $1250 under invoice, with the additional $1000 lease loyalty. Nothing signed yet. Not till October.

Is it though?
I disagree. It was originally about how the broker helped the OP out. Then there was a question at the end asking what others paid. Don't read between the lines, and then try to tell correct me.... As if I don't speak no good English so we'll very much better than you!

Yeah, I think it would be useful for people to see all of the deals but even more useful if we knew the ones that were VPP. You guys are so lucky to be able to get invoice minus - that's the bees knees :D

Not very realistic for us normal folk though.
