I designed a new look using start button rings (audi in this case) and a washer in which I grinded to make my new face.
The oem outer ring needs to be cut free from the retainer with an exacto and patience. You'll also have to grind the collar, underneath is inductive coils. I found it easier to remove it and rewire it - pita.
So the entire ting can be sandwiched together

I changed the leds to red and did the manual indicator on the shift panel to red as well. IT's all smd LED and easy to do if you know how to solder smd

I happen to really like the OEM button and its gunmetal ring but I commend you for your innovation.

So that outermost gloss black ring is a painted washer?

That's right, just drilled to the right size. I got the chrome factory ring and not liking it too much

So you are changing your dash lights to red too?

Unfortunately, it looks like there is some marking left over around your new start button bezel because the original start button bezel was bigger?
