swapped rear interior bulbs for LEDs

The tint shop I was at today had wedge LEDs for a couple bucks a piece ... I picked up two and swapped out the stock bulbs. The backseat at night went from the yellow-hue light to a crisp white. It matches the center console and kickplate lights well. It's just as bright as stock... minor mod, but I really like it.

Here's a pic that I took with my potato (i'll bust out the DSLR later this week for proper shots of the car).

Nice! I got the full list of lights fastgtr recommended but was only able to receive the one for the vanity mirror lights! Once I get the set, ill be swapping all of them! Well...might hold out on the glove box! Not sure if its that easy to get to! How was the swap? Was it easy to pop open?

Btw, looking forward to the shoot! :D

Post up your list when you get a chance :)

Yeah, super easy install. Just a flat screw driver to gently wedge into the cover and pop it off. Just yank the bulbs out and stick in the new ones.
Here you go man! Its not mine though! This is courtesy of FastGTR

Not sure why this hasn't been stickied on the DIY section yet! Air Filter swap alone is already something helpful for everybody!

Following up :) I swapped out the visor bulbs for LEDs, along with the door puddles. I ordered high output LEDs for the trunk; just waiting on those to be delivered.

Here are a few pics of before/afters, along with some install visuals for those who are interested in doing their own.

Visors - Pulled off the plastic cover by carefully wedging a flat-head screwdriver and prying it upwards from the bottom side.

Door Puddle Lights - Pry them out carefully with a flat head screwdriver, disconnect from the harness, then pray off the plastic lens from the housing.

I was able to get 20 wedge bulbs for like 10-15 bucks shipped on Ebay; also got the fuse-style LEDs for the visors around the same price for 2 pairs. Plenty to spare if I need replacements.

Fairly cheap mod but makes the car look much nicer at night, IMO.

Nicely done man! What about the trunk and license plate lights?

Thanks!

I'm waiting on high output LEDs for the trunk so it lights it up really well when the lid is open ... I haven't taken a look at the license plates actually. Are they not LEDs already? I always loved the way Lexus did them .. I'm assuming those are normal wedges so I'll give them a shot and post pics.
Check my build thread below! I just followed what FastGTR put on his blog and everything worked out great! :)

Oh, sweet! Thanks for sharing that - I love the way your Q is looking so far.

So those LED wedges fit in just fine?

Thanks man! :D

The license plate lights are the same as the lights used on the puddle lights and the rear passenger lights and FastGTR suggested a different light for the trunk but I accidentally put in the other ones(the same ones suggested for the license plate lights) and it worked as well! Trunk lights are the easiest to swap out actually!
I will do this conversion once I have some time.

Looking forward to your progress! Im sure white license plate lights would look sexy on HB! Should take a few minutes! Most of these are quite easy to take out! Only hard part should be the glove box which I havent bothered trying yet!
