I use an Android phone, and have been able to both send and receive text messages. However, the last two days, I have been getting the following message: :"Text messaging not connected. Please try again later". The phone is still connected to Bluetooth and I can make and receive phone calls; problem is just with texting. It seems to be intermittent, sometimes it works and other times I get the message.

Anybody else with a similar problem or any ideas/solutions?

Probably doesn't help but I have a Verizon Samsung S4 and txt works great. I love the ability to hit a button or three and have txt to speech. I did reply to one the other day and that was simple too.

The dealer set mine up and I've never confirmed settings since it works.

Exact Same Issue

I am having the same exact problem Intermittent text messaging issues some days it works and some days it doesn't. I also have a Verizon Samsung s4 and i thought it had to do with hitting the hands free setting but that proved to be unsuccessful. I am going to the dealer next week and will keep you updated.

Thanks - on further investigation found it was my fault. My Android phone had some security settings asking if it was ok for the car to access my texts and contacts. Works fine now

IOS isnt fully compatible with InTouch although you can get the system to alert you when a text message arrives and to read it back to you. Here's how to get that working

1. Go to the Setting App in IOS 7
2. Select Notification Center
3. Scroll down until you see Messages under the section titled Include
4. Select Messages
5. Enable the "Show in Notification Center" option

Next: Return to the top main Settings Menu
1. Select Bluetooth
2. Locate the Q50's connection: It may be labeled "My-CAR"
3. Press the Icon with an "i" inside a circle
4. Make sure that Show Notifications is enabled. If not, then enable it.

That should get it working for text alerts and to read back your messages. The InTouch system will continue to report that Text Messaging isn't available which is technically correct since IOS is not fully compatible with InTouch at this time and will not allow you to respond to a text message.

I decided to start fresh and retry all the settings. Now it works. I don't specifically know what I did different.

Thanks to everyone's advice.

Is the situation still the same today where for iphone users, one can only receive texts and not send ? I am able to successfully receive texts but the sending fails. (using iphone 5s).

I'm afraid so. It has to do with the security of the iphone itself

I've had my iPhone 5 paired to my Q50 since I purchased it on August 8th. It was able to read incoming texts (but as we all know we cannot yet send texts as Android phones!) but I recently unpaired and again paired my phone. Since doing so I am unable to get incoming texts to appear. When I click on the Text icon on InTouch it tells me that texting is unavailable and to try later...it is now two weeks of trying.

I told Aggie about it and he said his Android is also acting up regarding receiving/sending text. Has anyone else experienced an issue??

Uhh, no. My iPhone 5 is still reading the texts. (And when the car stops it shows the text contents on screen). However, it only reads the first part of txt if it's a long one. Hasn't acted up yet. ... And now reading ur post I will try not to mess/re-pair the phone... :(

Erase the phone from the car memory or vice versa. Then you should get notifications asking permission and it should work. I had the same problem that's how I fixed it. Hopefully you can understand my info

sprint iphone 5s can't receive text on q50s

I have the newest 8.0.2 update on the iPhone and just got the newest update on the q50. even after all that I still don't receive texts on the q50. is anyone having the same problems? if so what did u do to fix it.
*I've talked to Infiniti and apple tech support, they couldn't help.
*when I left the Infiniti dealer today, after the update to the car, the service advisor got his at&t iphone5 with an iPhone update of only 6.14. Yes 6.14! He was able to receive a message on my car as he paired his phone to my car.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for replying.
