Trunk space and spare tire package

I know the official trunk capacity is 13.5 cubic feet. Does anyone know what it gets reduced down to if you have the spare tire package?

The shallowness of the trunk with the spare tire package is frustrating at times.

Has anyone decided to take out their spare tire package (if they have it) and plan to rely on the run flat's capabilities in the event of a flat tire?

LOL, I did but I put it back. So long as golf clubs, scuba equipment and groceries fit I'm good.
My golf clubs barely fit...its a tight squeeze!

Put you back seats down. That's what I do.

Edit: Do you have a club bag?
I have both a cart bag and a stand bag. I primarily use cart bag unless I decide to walk. I don't have the deluxe package so no back seat folding for me.

O OK. I always walk.
My hybrid trunk is even smaller, and I don't have the run flats, either. I have a small air compressor in the trunk(Sears, $40), just in case I need to pump up a tire on the way to getting things fixed.

Best thing to do, who really gets a flat these days, usually it's a rare thing. Plus being aware of where you drive and your surroundings help, some people are just careless.

Air compressor, tire patch kit and road side assistance and you're set!

Wow, you need a "Deluxe Package" for a basic standard feature on a $10,000 KIA?
You'll gain about 8" inches if you take out the spare

If I remove the spare and everything, does the original cover still work?

I wonder why there is so much difference in the options vs stock features between Canada and the US. Canadians are forced to have a spare tire, bose audio, and folding seats.
Soo...i dont have folding seats either....but i was wondering how different the setup is with cars that do? I would think on an assembly line, it would be easier to just make them all the same and then maybe remove aspect of the folding seat to make it inoperable.... I could be way off there but I intend on taking a look. It does stink not having that capability to be honest.... even if i could get one side down that would be nice. I did notice that my read seat back is all one piece though so....anything short of a chainsaw is going to make it impossible. Eh well.

O
Face it, the trunk in the Q is not roomy. I have taken out my spare just to have enough room to carry some basic stuff.

With the spare in, I couldn't fit a large suitcase.

And for those wondering about the value of the folding seats, if that is your only consideration for upgrading packages, I would say to skip it. If it were a stand alone option I wouldn't have paid for it. The pass through is only a few inches high with the spare tire in. Not very useful at all.

It's nice to have as you can fit longer, thinner items in the car but I would suggest a thorough inspection of a model on the dealer' slot with the folding seats as they aren't as useful as one would expect. Better to have than not to have them? Sure. Could the trunk space and folding seats be better? Sure.

I guess it's the curse of this class when you want bigger space in the trunk, it's just not very realistic. Still, the Q is bigger than most competitors. Hybrid. . . Well, that's a different story and if someone doesn't understand the trade off of he trunk size with he battery they deserve what they get ;)
