The Q is capable of playing music off a flash drive inserted into the usb ports right?
And if so, does anyone know how large/many gigs it can support

32gb, but it only supports up to 5,000 files
I'm using an 8gb USB drive and for some reason it's only playing 1 song on repeat, and when I hit the forward button, it starts playing that same song again
Random All Mode is broken. It will be fixed in the next software update.

I'm avoiding playing off the USB like a plague after reading your troubles with it.

I'll wait for the update. Have been listening to MP3 from a CD in the mean time.

Do you know when the next software update will be available?

It works fine as long as you don't put it in random mode
Yep. Same here.

I have the sandisk flushmount 16gb drive with about 100 albums on it with no (knock on wood) issues.
Sorry for noob question...is video playback supported by usb?
I've noticed that the USB drive does not catalog the songs correctly. It lists files in a jumbled order. Any other device I use shows them is the correct order.

Also, every time I start the car with the USB drive inserted, it asks if I want to switch voice recognition to this device. It should only ask that once per drive. It's an annoying to have to turn off that notice every time you start the car.

When it asks, there is an option that says "Do not ask again" or "Remember"

I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone know if video playback is supported?

If the hardware supports all these things, then a nice firmware update could really turn this car into a technology machine.

Because yeah, I'd love to be able to catch up on episodes of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo while I'm driving. :p

I've noticed this too - any fix for this? I just purchased our Q50 last week and this is annoying. They said they installed the latest software update (I guess it was a big one) - but this didn't get fixed???
I might be wrong, but I think the USB files catalogs the music in the manner/order in which you last modified it on your computer.

So, if you have your USB music file sorted in ascending order from the Date Modified for example, that's most likely how it'll show up in the car. I'm not 100% sure
here is the ultimate noob question...does it matter how you folder the files? like on the PS3 you have to put music in a folder named MUSIC if not it shows unsupported files same with VIDEO, PHOTO, etc...

Not sure - as I put in 20GB of music on a thumb drive (all MP3's, but at 320kbps) - and only about 50 albums came up - and it doesn't show artist just album names... very frustrating, as I took a lot of time making sure all the ID3 tags were perfect when I ripped all this music a few years ago... Infiniti seems to not care and ignores more than half of it - and what it does show up is a mess.

Well, there is a limit and there might be some files that it can't play and won't show up.

If you haven't already, check the manual thread and look up the InTouch manual and see what it says about USB format and file playback
Infiniti seems to not care
Serioiusly? Have you called your dealer? Read the manual? Searched the forum?

Have you made any attempt to identify the problem to anybody at Infiniti?
