The record was set by 16-year-old American driver Chloe Chambers in a Porsche 718 Spyder.

The accomplished karter beat the previous record of 48.114 set by a Chevrolet Camaro RS in 2018 by Jia Qiang.

She is fortunate that her father raced Porsche's and she was exposed to racing at an early age. Having parents with the financial means to support racing from kid karts up to a 917 certainly helps. Still, starting lessons at kart racing at 7 and winning the local race park's kid kart championship only 4 months later shows she has the chops for racing.

Definitely. That's a good point. Exposure and wealth is the key getting good. Not everyone is lucky enough to have this kind of exposure as a kid.

Competitive racing at any level is an expensive sport. Of course, now that she's demonstrated competency on the track with a winning record, the sponsorships she has gained certainly ease the cost burden.
