You wouldn't have known he had a Hybrid.
He said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it.
Unless I fell asleep for part of that.

His reason for not like the DAS is why I like it.
I don't have to feel the pot hools and ruts up to the steering sheel.

This review sucks (UK "What Car?" content)

Really, did a Q50 just run over that guy's dog?

The text version isn't much better (1 star out of 5): 2014 Infiniti Q50 2.2d review

This is the first truly brutal overseas review that I've seen, in similar vein to the American travesties from last summer. I expected more from you, Brits.:p

Otherwise the variety of materials around the cabin feel classy, if not up to the perceived quality you’ll find in the Audi A3 Saloon and BMW 3 Series
WTF? These things:

Are better than this?

Is there a blow-my-brains-out smiley I can use? At least he said "perceived" quality, i.e., B.S. quality. I've been in those exact German interiors. The new C-class they are not; they are rife with hard plastics that feel a class below in places where the Q50 is trimmed in metal, wood, or stitched leatherette. Their consoles are the worst offenders. The BMW interior in particular, I'm not certain that I would rank it above even the new Mazda3/Mazda6 interiors (they are stellar, and I am hugely impressed with those cars overall). Sadly, that's just the tip of the iceberg as to the pro-German bias that this article is dripping with.

Now I'm going to have to watch that Motormouth Canada review to wash out the bad taste. Here it is so that you can watch it as therapy, my beloved friends.:D

I made a thread in the reviews forum about how bad this one is, and included a link to the text version of the 2.2 d review.

Simpson beat me to posting this video by 2 hours (I didn't look outside the review forum for it, my bad!), but just a few things the presenter complains about that are a tad ridiculous:

  1. Whining about how "expensive" the various Q50 trims are. Unless I'm missing something and a base 3-series can be had for CamCordTima money in the UK, since when is the Infiniti more expensive than the Germans? Since when, like, ever?
  2. Complaints about the noise of the 2.2 d model. I don't recall the press saying that the C-class with the same engine is an unrefined POS?
  3. The standard steering is "cumbersome" why? How? That tells me nothing more than saying "it sucks."
  4. Three adults won't fit in the back.... like you can fit three adults in the back of a 3-series, C-class, or A3 (what happened to the A4 with this guy anyway?)

Shite review.

Agree with your sentiment. I couldn't listen to this guy for more than the 3 minutes and 41 seconds it takes to get through the video. What a wanker!

My overall assessment is that, again, I get the feeling that because the car doesn't have a German badge on it, they didn't bother much actually testing the car itself...and since the car itself doesn't sell well in UK to begin with, there is no great deal of benefit for them to praise the car anyway.

I get that interior styling is subjective (as myself and others are proof of that) but I can see some people preferring the design of the 3-Series over the Q50. However, having sat in both loaded versions of the cars, that "perceived quality" delta is extremely small and not at all unanimous. In fact, this is probably the first source I've ever seen with something negative to say about the Q50 interior, which should be a huge red flag.

I'm only speculating, but I feel like they're jumping on the bandwagon once again with some of their fellow UK auto bloggers who are slamming the car and not being as objective and honest with their assessments (which have been pointed out as being biased and fault) as I think they could be. Instead, they're only repeating and regurgitating many of the same points over again, as if reading a script no-less and on a seemingly misguided basis haven already taken in the car with pre-conceived notions of being new and unpopular.

Infiniti has to be the most hated car brand globally. Look at the comments section below any Infiniti news. 95% hate and overt wishes that they'd disappear. I'd swear I were reading comments in a right wing blog about the President. I do not envy De Nysschen. People want him and the brand to fail with an illogical and perhaps downright psychotic passion.

I heard Infiniti is doing great in China. Maybe that's why they moved HQ to Hong Kong?

After seeing this video, I want to see him review the IS, the A4, and the 3 series to see what he says. I feel like most of the people doing reviews are so biased that it doesn't even help to see them.

He did mention the Hybrid twice. He didn't like the DAS and I really like the DAS. It's very smooth and responsive.

What BMWs did you have?
'04 X3 with 6MT. Transfer case failure at 80K. Small electrical problems.

'06 330i with 6MT and sport package. Every option except folding rear seat. Radiator blew at 60K. Many continuous frustrating computer/electrical problems.
