Only problem with black is that you need to keep it's paint in like-new condition for it to continue to look good. Black is one of those colors that makes the smallest scratches seem worse than they are. Even just keeping them clean can be tough. But if you don't mind giving them the extra care that's needed....it can be one of the best looking colors!

Thats the point. having an immaculate black car looks better then any color IMO. If youre too lazy or dont care dont get a black q50 takes too much time to take care of black paint, malbec black is even worse

As the owner of 3 black vehicles in a row, I know this all to well. Black is typically THE best looking color when clean and shiny. But it is the absolute hardest to keep that way. Every speck of dust shows, every drop of water can leave a spot if not wiped off. LOVE black cars, but they're WORK to keep'em looking good. That, along with the fact that I really like the look of the Graphite Shadow on the Q50, makes we want to step out of my black car routine this time around.

coming off a string of silver cars and now owning my first black car, I agree 100%. Left bird poop on the hood overnight, clear coat etched in the morning. I couldn't believe my eyes. This thing will have to be babied.

For me, it's probably the Chestnut Bronze, Graphite Shadow, and Hagane Blue. They aren't the best looking colors when they're clean, however, unlike the other colors, they do the best job at still looking good whether in the day, at night, or even when they're a little dirty.

The dark colors look great in the day as well as at night like Malbec and Obsidian, but they show dirty very easily.

Bright colors like the Moonlight White or Liquid Platinum reflect well during the day but at night, they lose a lot of reflectiveness and may end up looking a little flat.

The remaining colors (brown, gray, blue) have a lot of neutral tones to them so that can maintain reflectiveness during the day as well as at night and won't show dirt as easily as the rest.

Venetian Ruby is a special case as it is a primary color tone and so it reflects very well in the day and at night, but because of that, dirt becomes much more noticeable as well.

you should look at getting a "new car prep" or Opti-Coat applied.

Especially to black cars.

If you shop around you should be able to find people who will do it for 300-400$

Does anyone know if they changed the "graphite shadow" (or equivalent gray) color between the 2014 and 2015 models, or were both '14 and '15 using the same exact graphite shadow paint?
Graphite Shadow has been the same for quite a few years now since it's used across the lineup on pretty much every Infiniti. The M/Q70 also offered a different shade called Storm Front Grey and the FX/QX70 (among others) had Platinum Graphite. But at least since the G37 it has been the same color.
