Since I bought my car, I can hear a tea kettle like whistle coming from the passenger side when driving over 40mph. I've had multiple passengers ask about it, and after a week with my car the dealer couldn't find the source. He even drove 2 other Q50s and they also had the noise. I've contacted Infiniti Corporate but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have not, are you sure its not your ac vents that are closed or partially closed and running?

I'd bet that is it. OP, try either closing the air vent, or opening it all the way. I've had quite a few cars that had that "whistle" when the air vent was just slightly opened.

Air leak at door or window seals or the vent (near the trunk area)

I had this sound on the driver side and they are replacing the seal. Unfortunately the part (along with some others) is stuck in customs.

Obviously it has something to do with air flow. I can't imagine that the dealer didn't try playing with the vents. I would imagine there is a problem with the seal between the door or window and the car's body. I would wet my hand and slowly run it around the seam between the door and body of the car. When you feel some air flow you've found the problem!

Air leak...

I have the problem with mine, too. I even hear it when the car is sitting still with a high wind hitting the car from the side. That's how I was able to track it down. Mine's coming from the upper rear corner of the window frame of the drivers door.

With this many who say they hear an air leak, it sounds like a bunch of cars came off the assembly line with non-seated seals. I hope its not too many. It reminds me of the introduction of the first G35 coupe. Those who bought them, way back then(2003-2004), will remember the grease marks on the windows every time they were rolled down and then up(and sometimes, they wouldn't roll up the entire way). Things finally did get fixed, but it WAS frustrating for a while.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will try them tomorrow. The dealer spent half a tank of gas taping off various areas and test driving to no avail. Corporate did send the dealership a some suggestions and a CAD diagram to help adjust the gasket in the mirror. I've never tried adjusting the vents by I will now.

Whistle noise

Hello, came across your post and I thought I would inquire since my 2011 M37S has been having the same issue since I bought it new. It seems to be coming from the passenger side near the front windshield area. I have taken it in multiple times over the course of 4 years and they have never been able to replicate the noise, therefore no fix. I've noticed it happens more often in the summer and only when I drive over 60 mph. Were you ever able to get your issue fixed?

The fan on the passenger side next the cabin filter has to be the culprit. I had this issue in my 03 g35 coupe and was fixed with replacement of the fan.
