Question? What brand of window tint will new buyers of Q50 be buying ? I had a local installer recommend FormulaOne high performance tint Pinnacle series. Has anyone used this product? What do you think about removing the door panels for installation?

I had my infiniti's tinted by Twtinting.com with Ceramic Tint and they never removed door panels ever. I have never had any issue with their work to date on any of my Infinitis or any of my friends cars. Great place to go to if you are in So. Cali.
Ceramic Tint Available- This film provides UV and heat rejection, and also includes non-metalized, non conductive ceramic technology. Since ceramic tint is non-metallic, it will not interfere with rear window antennas. This film type is mainly used on vehicles whose antennas are embedded in the glass.

I have ceramic film tint on my Infiniti and it does make a big difference in the cabin temp, specially summers. It's also is scratch resistant.

Your car is so shiny I almost find myself looking for my reflection in it. Thank goodness I found some specks of dirt on the windshield. It made me feel better. :)

I was looking around at your neighborhood in the background. It looks like most people are leaving their cars outside exposed to the sun. I would think that would be hard on the paint and upholstery. I try to keep mine under cover all the time even if it isn't a particularly nice car like yours.

I don't remember as it was in 2009, but I can ask the guy at TWtinting who did it, he complied to calif. law. Dark in back and lighter in front.
Nice! Need that! But from what I read before its any percentage @ back and rear windows while front windows are 70%, which is basically nothing! :(

Your fronts seem more than 70% though!

Thanks, ;)Man, your are spying on my neighborhood , Well the weather around here is mild so people around here keep their cars outside doesn't do much but mine is always covered when not on the road and I have it detailed at least once a year, keeps the car clean plus you can find out if there are any issues. Couldn't keep the bugs from hitting the windshield at 65+++ MPH:>!:p

So if my Q50 is not "pre" tinted when I purchase the car, should I ask the dealership if they can do the tinting or go to a shop that specializes in tinting?? How much does GOOD quality tinting usually cost anyway??

It varies by region and your tint brand preference. You should go with ceramic tints. They don't fade, don't block signals, and trap a ton of infrared heat.

I got top of the line Huper Optik ceramic on my G. It is thick film and hard to work with so only the best shops will stock it. It traps 80 percent of infrared heat and is quite tough. My car was $400 at Pro Tint. Lifetime warranty on the film.

I think Pinnacle F1 tint is a comparable ceramic that should be cheaper. It's what my friend put on his M3 and it has held up well.

FABULOUS!! Thank you!!!! Man, I need to start copying/pasting some of these helpful hints into a document. I'm forgetting entirely too many of them and many are not in thread topics with the heading (imagine that) so harder to find later.

Was thinking abou posting the exact question! Thanks, chick!

I asked my Infiniti dealer manager who quoted me $395.:mad: Are you kidding me! So I told him that I have a local company who does great job tinting and did on my previous EX and RX... and I KNOW he will charge less. ... So the manager asked me to give him the quote and see what he can do.... THAT's what I want to hear.

I think for the convenience and the "look of the whole package":p, ... so that I will be able to pick up the TINTED Q on 1st day, ... I would prefer Infiniti tinting the windows. I can be assured about the quality, etc. HOwever, that is IF his price is not too out of control...

Fabulous women think alike! ;) That's a great idea about getting quotes and then asking the dealer if they can beat/match it. Of course at this point I can't get them to give me numbers, which they tell me twice a week they are working on. Ahhhh
