I got the Q for about 2 1/2 months now and here are a few mods that i did to it during this summer and more to come. Huge Lakers and Kobe fan, so i named him "The Black Mamba". Enjoy

Looking sick man! Not sure how I feel about the wheels as Plastidip has been letting me down lately. But im actually really digging the carbon wrap inside and might try that! Did you pop the pieces off to do it? And if so was it hard to remove?

Ironically, I really like the G37 pics (old), but I'm not feeling the Q50 pics (new)....I have this same color/model Q50 too...I like 'murdered out' look, but for some reason this is looking like a Hyundai to me now...

I wouldn't normally say this stuff, but it's not permanent anyways- it's just plasti-dip so it could always be undone...but each to their own.

The plastidip on the wheels is just temporary until i buy after market wheels, which will be in a year or two. I was going to dip it in Anthracite Gray, but that takes off on the whole Black Mamba theme that i am going for. As for the chrome trim around the car, i practically hate it. Lol. But thanks for the input.

Ah, I remember seeing that g37 driving around . Swirving in n out traffic. Smh

Hopefully times have changed. Good start on your Q so far.
Really you saw it? Lol. Times have changed. I don't do it as much anymore, plus i baby the gas on this hybrid. :D

I think anthracite gray wouldve looked pretty cool
I thought about it too and was going to buy it already, but the Black Mamba in me said no. Lol. I have to get used to the black wheels because that is what i will be getting next. ;)

Did you do the chrome wrap yourself? If so, any tips for the grill? I've done wraps myself on previous cars, but by the looks of it, to get that smooth finish all around without creases, you would think a big sheet of vinyl would be needed.
Yes i did it myself. Not perfect, but good enough for my first try. As @Vancity808 said, use a big sheet, work your way from the center outwards, and take your time. Good luck!

I did it with a sheet of vinyl big enough to cover the whole grill. Take your time and heat/stretch the middle instead of stretching the part thats actually covering the chrome.

I appreciate the advice guys. May get started in the next couple of weeks.

How many cans did it take for all 4 calipers? They've been out of stock of the color I want locally, so I'm thinking maybe I can get by with a single can, but wanted to check before I tear things down this weekend.

Also, I know you posted a followup on the other thread with a list of tools required for removing, but what's your take on painting the calipers while they're still attached? Can't i mask everything really well and just hit the caliper that way?

Trying to avoid purchasing all the tools as I have nothing yet!

I used 2 cans of the caliper cleaner, 1 can of primer, 1 1/2 can of paint, and 1 1/2 can of gloss. I wouldn't do 1 can of paint as you will only get about 2 coats on all of them and you would need 3 coats at least.

You can paint it while it is still in the car. It is not the right thing to do, but without the tools and garage, you just have to do it. @Brich75206 did his and never took it out and it still looked good. I would suggest using a G2 brush paint than a spray paint as that would be easier and not messy. Still sand the calipers after cleaning so the paint can stick longer. There is a video on youtube of a porsche getting its calipers painted using the G2 brush method and it really looked good. That can give you an idea of how to do it the right way. Good luck. Let me know if you have other questions.

hey n_jay888, really off topic here, but huge Kobe fan myself (actually hated the guy up until the last 4 years where I realized he honestly is the closest thing to a MJ replica LOL).

What do you think he's going to do this year? Run and gun or ride off into the sunset? His competitive edge will NEVER let him ride off into the sunset, but you think he's going to take a more backseat approach and maybe mentor the younger guys?

From what I can see already in pre-season, look like he'll be an older version of Westbrook lol (40 FGA a game hahaha).

But back to the proper topic, really feeling the new wheels!!! Can't wait to seem them on the Mumba!

Lol. Thanks bro! Can't wait to get my springs tommorow so i can install it on sunday. :D

As for Kobe, i don't see him taking a back seat and ride into the sunset. That guy has a lot of ego that he won't let it happen, especially when he is ranked #40 for the 2014-2015 season. I am pretty sure he is so pissed that he will show everybody what's up. Hahaha! He will mentor some of the guys but not to the extent where he would baby sit them. If they don't put up, he will definitely chew them up. Lol

By the way, i am just waiting for my personalized plate to come "3LK MMBA".
