2015 Q50 3.7: Valve Body Options?

I think my 2015 Q50 (3.7L, AWD, 7AT) has the valve body issue. Yesterday I lost the ability to shift into 4th gear while driving on the highway. The car was shifting between gears 1-3 in automatic mode, but manual mode would not work - I could move the shifter into the manual position but the dashboard would not show that the car was in manual mode.

I brought my car into work this morning so I can bring it to the shop on the way back home, and the CEL popped up. I wasn’t able to scan it but I did drop it off at a local shop. On the way to the shop, my car was struggling to get into second gear. It would hover around 5-7k rpms for a few meters and then bog hard and shift to second gear extremely rough. This happened a couple of times on the way to the shop before it finally stopped being able to shift into second. Car’s currently sitting in the shop and I’ll get a diagnosis on it tomorrow morning but my guess is the valve body.

The car has ~104,300 miles, and in assumption that the valve body is the issue, I had some questions about the part and how you guys were able to get your hands on one. I know there’s some replies in other forums about where people got their valve bodies but I wanted to create a thread that was more centralized to the topic:

1. Where are you guys getting your valve bodies from? I’m seeing a lot of people getting them off Ebay (preprogrammed), some people with success, some not - can you please share your experience with using a preprogrammed one off Ebay?
a. Has anyone bought off Nexenzo? Or sent theirs to Level 10 to be rebuilt?

Buying brand new is not an option for me. My local Infiniti dealership (I live near Toronto, Canada) is charging $4,068.00 CAD ($2,950.00 USD) after tax for the part only…

It’s also difficult trying to find parts from the junkyard/part-outs because I’m not confident if it’ll work on my car. Will a G37 or 370z valve body work on mine? Will a VR30 valve body work on a VQ37?

I’m struggling to decide where to buy from or if I should get it rebuilt.

2. What’s the part number for the valve body? I’m seeing that the part number may have been updated and the valve body for the AWD variant is different than the one for the RWD - my car is an AWD 2015 Q50S (3.7).

Thanks

I know for a fact the G37 valve body is different than my 2014 Q50. I have pictures of both in my build thread if you need to look at them. I put a low mile 2010 G37x trans in my 2014 Q50. I had to use the Q50 valve body in the G37x tranny. So the transmissions are the same but the valve body is different.

Edit: The transfer cases are also different between the G37x and the Q50, I had to use my q50 Tcase on the G37x trans.

Also the 2007-2008 G37 / G35 5 speed transmission dipsticks work in the Q50 7spd if you want to check your fluid.

I just bought a brand new valve body from a dealership online for $1800 USD. I wouldn’t trust any of the aftermarket options on eBay, I’ve heard too many stories of them going out after only a few hundred miles. Same with getting one rebuilt. While it might seem like a good deal in the short term, it’s better to pay more to get it done right than to have to deal with the issue again later down the road.

If money is the biggest concern, see if you can find a shop that will swap the TCM from the valve body. Usually that will fix the problem. But the shop has to be able to program it.

The part number for the AWD 2014-2015 Q50 is 31705-X132C. You can also call any Infiniti dealership parts department to confirm the part number with your vehicles VIN.
