Cabin Air Filter Replacement - the Easy Way

Just take the old filter out and forget about replacing it. People are such pussies nowadays. Filtered air, filtered water, no lactose, no peanuts...Jesus H Christ...what a bunch of pansy-ass people the younger generation is.

And stay off my lawn!!!
Go right ahead and dance all over it. Thirty-seven years at the old house and never even saw a snake in the yard. Mowed lawn at the new place four times so far, hit a snake once with the mower and saw one slither away the another time. Yeah, garden snakes, but still...I think I'd rather have my nipples pierced than see any snake regularly. I'm not sure if I'm gonna have to buy a riding mower or hire a lawn service.

GD...no pictures necessary. I would have burned the phucking car down.

I thought "garter" was a colloquialism (if that's the right word) used in the midwest, but apparently not. I have always said garter snake, but always assumed it wasn't the correct term.

Jesus, I hate nature.

I realize they are harmless, and my brain can tell me that, but I don't think I could command my hands to touch one.

Garter snakes are the smelliest snakes around. They exude a foul odor when irritated so it's best to wear gloves when handling them. They do bite however, even though their venom is basically harmless to humans. Best to grab them right behind the head when moving them to a better location.
Thanks for that bit of advice, but I don't think I will ever have to worry about it. The one I hit with the lawn mower was left in place so that the food chain could take care of it naturally.

I never learn anything about them because if I Google the topic a bunch of pictures pop up in the returns and I don't need that $h!t. Words are more than enough thank you, I don't need your visual enhancements.

Based on the title of this thread, it hits toward the top of a site search.

I just did this today and want to add some clarifications for others that search.

There is no reason to remove the side panel from the right end of the dash.

Open the glove box and empty all your crap out of it.

There is no need to remove the cover at the bottom of the dash that snaps on below the glove box.

With the glove box open, grab it at the bottom, down by the hinge. Pull up and snap the door off the hinge. There are two "bars" on the lower dash that are each about one inch long that corresponding "hooks" on the bottom edge of the glove box door snap onto, allowing it to swivel open and closed.

As you let the glove box drop down to the floor, the left side travel stop (the stop sticks out from the side and is fuzzy-coated as is the glove box interior) will disengage from the slot in the dash, and then the right side stop will disengage and the glove box will hang by the cable that connects it to the dash on the right edge and acts as a damper.

This will give you access to a black plastic door with a "handle" on the right edge that you pull on to remove the cover. Behind that is a second black plastic cover that you remove and you will see the cabin air filter.

Just slide the filter out paying attention to where exactly it is located and the orientation of the filter media and insert the new filter in the same way - foam gasket facing up and the filter positioned to the left edge of the white plastic blower case.

Replace the second cover you removed, paying attention to the two tabs on the left edge of the cover and the wedges on the bottom edge that push the filter up against the top of the blower case.

Replace the first cover you removed, by first engaging the tabs along the bottom edge and snapping it into place.

Lift up the glove box, and engage the right side stop into its channel, then the left side stop and finally snap the hooks on the bottom edge of the door onto the hinge bars.

Sorry, no pics.
