After many weeks of an annoying rattle from the trunk and systematically removing every single thing the rattle persisted. I finally tracked it to under the bumper cover. I was sure it had to be a rock, or broken bracket, etc.
Today i got under there to dig out and fix whatever what causing this obnoxious noise that was so frustrating to hear while driving. To my surprise (and horror) I learned that the aluminum impact bar (that actual safety bumper) corroded completely through and was just propped up by the bumper cover bracket. See photos. The other side is near broken too.
How can that happen? my car is a 2014. not even 10 years old. This must be a rare case because i cannot find any info on this occurring?
Has anyone heard of this? My feeling is that Infiniti should warranty this. It's not a normal wear part, nor a par that should be designed to last only 8 years when it is a pure safety part.
