I ended up purchasing a MKZ. I'm not a "sports" driver so this was perfect for me. I was more interested in the tech features and value for my money. I got a 2013 a few weeks ago for less than invoice price. When I compared the Q50 and MKZ I would have ended up paying $8-10k more for a comparable fully loaded Q50 that has less features. Plus I work from home and don't drive alot so it's more than enough for me. I ended up getting a fully loaded V6 Smoked Quartz with light dune interior and black carpets which Infiniti didn't have. I had the windows tinted a few days after I got it and I love it. I've gotten lots of looks and compliments (mostly from old men haha). Plus I still have my old faithful 98 Infiniti.

Awesome write up and spot on. I'm in the "kicking tires" part of buying a new car and drove the MKZ. The 2.0T / FWD is a really decent option. I expected torque steer issues and under powered but it did well. The car simply felt HUGE and the center stack didn't work for me as well. The worst part about the "car" was the annoying sales rep who did the "whats it going to take" thing to me before we got even off the lot..

That MKZ interior flashed me back to last week when I had rented a 2013 Ford Taurus. Virtually the same dash elements and Sync system as the Taurus. Lincoln obviously has to do more than separate physical retail locations if it wants to (necessarily) distinguish itself from the non-luxury Ford brand. These are things that I pay attention to as a luxury car buyer.

Vices, I'm willing to bet that MsNicey's new Smoked Quartz/Light Dune MKZ looks pretty much like this one. This photo is one I took this summer of an MKZ V6 AWD model.

For awhile I thought I like the Smoked Quartz exterior color, but it is a little funky. In direct sunlight it looks Metallic Gray, but then in other less bright light it really has a blue-ish tint to it.

I think I like the Tuxedo Black color the best in an MKZ. But for 2014, you can get it in "Sterling Gray" that is much more of a true dark gray. Like this one:

That said, I the silver color did grow on me a little after test driving my last and final hybrid in that color (when I decided finally the Hybrid just was too underpowered). Here's what it looks like:

MKZ is gorgeously styled, i actually like it just as much as Q50, but it drives like a piece of plywood adrift at sea. Q50 RWD wins EVERYTIME. Now if ford really wanted to get serious about competing with Q50, ATS and 3 series they would take the MKZs shell and drop it right on the new S550 mustang chassis, complete with IRS and its ecoboost 6... JEEEEEEZ could you imagine?

Yeah that would be cool - especially if they would tweak the front and rear somewhat to be a little closer to their new MKC Concept. The wrap-around front lights and rear tail lights on it are AWESOME! The current MKZ is close, but they did it much better with the MKC Concept. Of course it is still a concept. My buddy Sam at Lincoln just told me that from a dealer meeting he went to this week that the MKC actual production model will probably be announced coming up in November.

Here's the MKC Concept front & rear.
