Infiniti Q60 (3.0T) 6MT Conversion

I've created a thread on InfinitiQ60.org (https://www.infinitiq60.org/threads/infiniti-q60-3-0t-6mt-conversion.19453/) dedicated to How-To for a 6 speed manual conversion on a 2017 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 (3.0T). This could be helpful for the Q50 as well. However, there have already been more Q50s converted than VR30 Q60s (only 2 so far)

I purchased this vehicle with the intent to do this 6MT swap. Previously, I have owned a 2003 Infiniti G35 6MT and a 2008 G37 6MT. I was very interested in the increased performance on the Red Sport 400 (3.0T), but put off by the automatic transmission (just my personal preference). I followed the development from Concept Z's 6MT swap and hoped to see them commercialize this conversion. Covid happened and CZP did not release a kit or any further information.

Therefore, I have figured out the details and would like to share them for anyone else interested in this conversion on a 2017+ Infiniti Q60. One benefit to the delay is the availability of parts from the 2023+ Nissan Z. I decided to use the trans and clutch from the new Z. Also, the same EDM (European) Q50 sedan manual interior console parts fit the USDM Q60 (coupe), as they do the USDM Q50 (sedan). In total (not including the research), this took 50 hours to complete. I had a local driveshaft shop modify my driveshaft. The full parts list is below. Also, a special thanks too the following who offered their support:

Gawd!! My math was $10k, but I was also looking at using a 5 speed from a GTR32 or 33 so I can keep my AWD. Which then adds an adapter from LOJ. Beautiful work! Enjoy your now very unique Q!

For everything including the custom tune from AMS, $6,965.18
Sheesh way cheaper than expected especially with a AMS tune.

I once read on the CZP article for the 6 speed manual swap that the ECU already has a checkbox to select manual or automatic trans.
I can't remember the specifics but they had a whole bunch of issues with the transmission and ECU logic, think that was mostly tied to wiring harness shift logic, and engine response. They repurposed an older 350-370Z transmission so it wasn't designed for a VR30 engine out of the gate.

Jake/Miles @ AMS had the manual feature set from the first tune they sent. This prevented the limp mode in the CZP article. It seems like there is better understanding of the Nissan ROM files now than in 2019. We did spend a lot of time tuning the throttle to get it to close as soon as one lifts off the throttle. Stock there is a weird delay that becomes very obvious with the manual transmission and clutch pedal. This presented as “Rev hang”, where the RPM spikes between gears.

This is the throttle closure delay that infiniti programmed in so that they didn't have to install recirc/bov's.

I just can't believe a new 6sp from nissan can be purchased for $2k or less. I searched it and it's legit. A really good deal honestly 👌

Aye was expecting at least 2-3K to buy from Nissan, manuals were always way cheaper than automatics though. Its why CVT's became so wildly popular they cost just about as much to manufacture as a manual transmission.

Niiice! Care to elaborate? I've been eying the trans/transfer cases on the R32/R33 awd as well, without it in my possession but just by pics, specs etc. I was wondering if it could be done, since the V37 shares some similar specs and design from their lineage. I'm a AWD sedan as well

Im thinking of doing it too. Been talking to a couple of my current techs and some that got out of the business. Could be something there just got to make sure my FEB will still work. I dont wanna chop up the car and lose features lol.

Yes siiir, mission is to convince the wife now that I have a 3 month old daughter. Was able to squeeze in AMS LDP, PLM HE, Z1 drop-ins, Racebox tune and 245 45zr18 tires all around pre and post birth. . .lol

@JayRacing I love this swap. I wish I had the time/money to do this. I would keep my Q forever if I did a manual swap. Great job! It looks awesome.
