This is the new ambient light kit. The original kit only contains lights for driver and front passenger footwells. The new kits contains lights for driver, passenger, both rear passenger footwells along with lights for the cup holders. Look at the part number and the kit contents...
Can we buy a separate kit that just does the backseats and/or cupholders? Anybody have photos of this (updated kit) installed?

I was looking through the Q60 forum and there's some pictures of it installed. There seems to be 2 versions...the only difference is the cupholder lights though. One version has a single led on the side for the cupholders and the RS models have a circular led in each cupholder on the bottom. Check out the link to see what I'm talking about.

Interesting. I wonder if the new kit is the same colour temperature as the previous one most of us have installed. The original lighting kit has a purple/blue hint to it while those photos make it seem like a brighter white?

Super interested in getting this new kit!!!
I have a 14 hybrid and concerned if itll work with my car, if anyone with a 14 gets it installed please let me know.
I really wouldn't mix and match accessories that aren't specific for your year as your wiring harness may differ from that of a 2017 model. Evidence being, 2014 - 2015 illuminated kickplates require the accessory connector where as the 2016 - 2017 don't and there's a plug where it snaps in for power, simple and easy. So please be very very cautious before doing this. It may end up costing you a lot more trouble than it may be worth. Read the instructions first from the link I posted and compare it to you setup before ordering and drilling holes and etc.

I don't think the newer kit will be plug and play, so it may not be worth the trouble. Looks like harnesses and wiring is different between the different year models.

Does anyone have pics of the lighting installed on their 2014? Some pictures make it look blueish purple, if that's the case, I may ditch the interior lighting completely and stick with the welcome lighting only.

Id only buy+install at the dealer if they gave the green light that everything was okay.
Called earlier got a quote for $480 installed +$35 for an adapter.

Did you tell them the part number for the newer kit and tell them you have a 2014?
Yea I was wondering exactly. These kits aren't plug and play, for the newer models only the kickplates were plug and play. The dealer did my welcome lighting which has a standard part number for all Q50 years but there was a lot of wiring done and I feel the 2017 ambient lighting will be more so that $480 quote is reasonable but I would make sure they are away that you have a 2014. Last thing you want is them getting half way through the install and realizing your car doesn't have applicable wires and etc.

i did indeed do both of those things BUT i will still definitely confirm before purchase the part and install with them if/when i end up doing it. (maybe in the summer)
I too got the welcome lighting installed on my car last summer, love them!

Yea that is by far my fav accessory.

I confirmed with 3 different people from Infiniti from different dealerships and they said it will not be plug and play with the older model years. It can be done but splicing will be involved and not covered by any warranty.

Anytime there is an Accessory Service Connector involved, you bet there will be plenty of splicing
