I"m assuming that grille won't fit on a 2017. :crying: I would love to have an OEM all black grille that I won't have to get wrapped.

I know you cannot order an 18 with it as it is a dealer installed part. However, if you look at the compare pic I butchered in MS paint, you can see they also moved the radar sensors. It does look like it would fit however.

Indeed it will have option for a factory front light emblem that has the light contained and focused. Only thing that is hard to tell is if the black edging of the emblem is part of the mesh grill or if the emblem is one piece that goes on top of the mesh. Man, I really hope it's the latter and emblem will fit in previous year models, cuz boy does it look nice and clean.
Time to look for part numbers and further investigate!

Different topic, but worth noting that there is now an option in display menu for digital speedo on the '18 -I remember someone had asked if possible. Would be nice to have an update that would give previous year models the same option.

I just wanted to share the new install:

Install was easy. Took me an hour because I needed to figure out how to get the fuse box out, run the wire, trial-and-error a couple of fuses to tap into.... But if I had to do it again, it would take 10 minutes.

Looks nice!

Correct. They come with the grille.

I like the idea of just working with an emblem to illuminate. Not replacing the whole grille!

Well, Infiniti has a way of surprising even those at the dealership level. The original bulletin that was released to us indicated only the grilles would be an option and the availability would be similar to that of the Q50.

Now, we the release of our August, 2017, Accessory Guide for new models coming out (accessory guides are released to us monthly with updates), and, checkout what shows up on the screenshot attached to my post.

Looks like Infiniti will be offering the illuminated emblem separately after all. But, $425 MSRP? Really? That's a tough sell for me.

Edit: Can you buy only the LED emblem? Or does it have to be purchased with the grille? I already own a midnight black grille...

This should work no problem on any Q50 model regardless of front camera or not. The part number for the grille emblem and emblem base is the same from 2014-2018. Means anything associated with the emblem shouldn’t affect other trim options.

is the stand alone radiant emblem even out yet ? I js searched infiniti parts website and found nothing . any ideas as to when it's gonna be dropping ?

You would need to buy the car with the radiant grille option, this gets you the illuminated logo.

You then would need to install the black sport grille separately and drill holes for the wiring that goes to the emblem.

Ask Shaun in his Q50 thread about the modification, he did his own install and swap.

I personally opted to keep chrome instead of deleting it all. I think it looks nice with the 2018 and isn’t overly chromed out like the outgoing MY.

There’s an updated chart. I’ll have to review it again.

No need to purchase the vehicle pre-equipped with it. All the 2018’s are supposed to have a connector preinstalled as the illuminated grille emblem can simply be added.

For Shaun’s grille, he had to drill because of the route he and I discussed. If memory serves, he bought his car with the illuminated emblem and the way they offer these grilles, there was no need to buy the grille he wanted with the illuminated emblem preinstalled. I pulled up the illuminated emblem install instructions and drilling was required. So, to save some considerable money, he bought the non-illuminated emblem grille he wanted and simply transferred over his emblem.

No worries. We’re all learning. I’ve made some missteps in previous posts because this new Q50 has quite a few subtle, yet important differences!

Notably, I incorrectly noted the illuminated emblem could be retrofitted. I was wrong and wish I could find my post where I stated that to correct it.
