I was able to get a larger discount on my Q50 because Amica and probably most other carriers are unaware of the new features such as car locator, the sonar indicators, collision avoidance etc. These can reduce your rates.
Good point. Is there anything in particular you have to mention? I think I will call Geico to see if they can give me any more discounts.

Did you check Geico? I got quotes for double what Geico offered me with every other company i checked.
Geico was more like $2000 per 12 months. Same with Progressive. I checked like 10 different companies.

Things may change a bit when I turn 25, I'm planning to re-evaluate then.

For Liberty Mutual I had to specifically mention the "On-Star"-like features such as the collision detection, SOS thing with infiniti connection, etc.

Nice! A penny earn is a penny save :)
My insurance company ask me to send proof of what Infiniti Connection is since it is not in their database.

Thanks. Completely forgot about the Infiniti SOS

Edit: Geico is giving me $4.86 off my 6-month premium. Woohoo - rolling in the money!

But seriously, thanks for the heads up.

I'm 18, due to high prices in Canada BC, i got quoted 4400 yearly for insurance on my Q50, havent had an accident. Also got another quote if i were to put the car under my dads name it would be roughly around 1800. 50 years old, no accidents with a 10 years safe drivers premium.

Still waiting on my Q50... coming in october

This is a duplicate thread for this topic. But, GEICO still (like several other insurers) doesn't have the Q50 in their system yet, so they don't know the exact safety qualities of the car--much less the true insurance score of the car, which is certainly better than the G [I'm at $552/6mths for 100/300/100, $500/500 ded, rental, no tix or at-faults in prior 5+ yrs, 24 y/o]. Called for a Q50 quote & they were only able to provide me a rate based on the car's monetary value, which of course is significantly diff than the true insurance rate that factors in the crucially-important crash test ratings & safety features. The monetary-based quote was $730 for 6mths (same coverage); agent strongly advised me to get re-rated when the Q is in the system.

Holy ****!!! I wouldn't even consider this car if my insurance was that outrageous. At least it doesn't sound like a big surprise for u!

its the same for every car in the price range for a guy my age, all ranges around 4000 +

Went from Geico who quoted me over 2k annually for the Q50, to State Farm who quoted me $556 for six months on the GS350 I ended up with.

Shop around, you have no idea how this insurance voodoo works and if your current insurer has high rates, call in to cancel. I know at least Geico won't adjust your rate or quote without speaking to "customer retention" first, which is the queue that has power to give you a better rate to keep you from leaving.

Ohhhhh sure, $4400 is OUTRAGEOUS but I'm more shocked that you are 18 years old and can afford a $50K car. haha :p;)

yeah i know im young, but i've been working full time every summer 45 hour weeks at a local car accessories shop. and part time during the days i've got school. and im paying for a part of the car and all the expenses that'll be following up ( maintenance, gas, ect.. )

i was originally looking to buy a 2008 G37S coupe but the old man put a no to that

OOPSY!! I just reamed my insurance agent because when I initially purchased my Q50 and called to update my insurance policy, the Q50 was not yet in their system so she simply updated it to a 2014 G37. Since I was concerned that if I was ever in an accident (my first, lord forbid), that it would be denied due to it saying my car was a G37, I called today to update my coverage.

She notified me that my insurance would increase $200 a year ($1016 annually). I was shocked and tried explaining that the Q50 was the G37 just renamed. She didn't get it and said there was nothing she could do. She further explained that I have every discount available including good driver, multi policy, pleasure (versus commute) vehicle, and a handful of others, as well as being in their best category (which is their lowest cost). Well that still wasn't good enough as I felt it was still so much higher than my G37S so I told her that I would be shopping around for cheaper insurance.

After hanging up I got on the forum and searched for this thread to see what others are paying and besides Aggie (who has incredible rates for a single male, under 30) and Selzini (also single male, "slightly over 30"), my rates were one of the lowest. So I guess I won't bother shopping around for my home and auto policies since I've been with Traveler's for 4 years and in less than a year will have the accident forgiveness option (hoping never to need it).

I just seemed so surprise at the increase for the Q50. Especially since I paid the same for my G37S versus my Q50 (didn't know about VPP when I bought my G). I may revisit this issue with them in a couple of months when they FINALLY understand that although they consider the Q50 a "new model" that it is in fact a renamed G37 as advertised.

OK, glad I got that off my chest because I was so annoyed! :p

But it isn't just a renamed G37. There aren't even published crash ratings yet, which could be one reason it is higher.
