Losing android google maps audio through bluetooth

OK, I suspect this is something silly, but I just can't figure it out.

Just took a 3925 mile road trip in my Q50, and one thing that kept happening was that I had my android phone with google maps paired with my Q50 via bluetooth. Google maps on my android phone was giving me audio directions through my 2018 Q50 bose speakers. All worked great. Then I started listening to FM radio, and noticed I wasn't getting any audio from google maps, not through the car or through the phone. Maps wasn't muted.

Not in the car, the phone google maps audio worked great through the phone speaker, but in the car, no map audio.

I can still play youtube.com audio through the Q50 bluetooth fine, but no map audio.

Unpaired the phone from my Q50 (deleted the bluetooth connection from both phone and Q50.) Then google maps audio on the phone speaker started working fine.

Re-paired phone and Q50, and then audio worked through car speakers fine.

Listened to FM radio for a bit, and noticed no more google maps audio from phone.

What stupid thing did I miss to keep the google maps audio working or get it working again after listening to FM radio?

The volume control for voice guidance is different than the volume control for listening to music. Have you tried adjusting the volume when directions are being given while listening to FM? This works if using the InTouch navigation system but I don't know about Google Maps running on Android. Just spit balling here.

Thanks -- will check it out next time I'm at the car.

I'm not quite sure how this works in theory even ... is the car supposed to interrupt FM if there is certain bluetooth input from the phone?

And are there different protocols for the bluetooth audio that the phone outputs and the car inputs for:
1) youtube
2) maps
3) phone call ring

I have an iPhone and while streaming Pandora via Bluetooth, if I'm using the InTouch navigation, the audio directions are announced while lowering the music level and the music volume goes back up afterwards. If the directions volume isn't loud enough, I increase the volume WHILE the directions are being announced. That won't work if you try to adjust the directions volume after the directions audio has finished. You can also set the guidance volume separately under the Guidance Preferences: Menu > Guidance Preferences > Guidance Volume

Simply put... Infinity Q50 2019 does NOT support Android Auto or Car Play. So you can pair the phone and that works via bluetooth. However, if you try to use MAPS on the cell phone, there will be NO audio even on the phone. Infinity, for a so called high end brand is horrible on tech. They are behind just about everyone. What is amazing is they do not offer ANY upgrade that would resolve this problem.
