Installed some Chinese knockoff IC I got off Ebay. Didn't feel like spending the coin on the name brand stuff I have 3 kids so I have to save whenever possible. I will say stock IC definitely are a restriction when trying to turn the boost up. I really can't say what is the exact point but I know previous to the install I could never maintain higher boost levels I would always have abrupt drops or big spikes. Since the install iI can reach and hold 24lbs with a slight taper as rpm rise. Overall fit and finish was spot on. As far as longevity goes too early to tell. They definitely took my car to another level and I feel improvement all throughout the rev range not in just one particular area. Can't say for sure what they added but in my case we'll above the basic advertised numbers. Engine bay definitely got an upgrade as well. I am extremely happy with them so far. Just figured I'd share my experience.

That looks like an interesting upgrade,,how much were they? How long did the install take, I've always felt the intercoolers were sub-optimal and something 🤔 I might try in the future..

$810 delivered unfortunately from 🇨🇳 sorry 🇺🇸.

Install wasn't terrible. A couple hrs. A little tip when refilling system fill the reservoir but disconnect the Y on the passenger side and fill with coolant post pump. I would fill and blow until coolant starts to fill reservoir or puking out open line. Initially I just filled reservoir and had no flow. After I filled at the Y everything was good. Keep an eye on the level for a little bit

Appreciate the information, what yr and model Q50 do you have,it sounds like your tuned? Definitely love the way they are nestled in the engine bay I mean they look mean and serious business 👌..

It's an 18 luxe. I'm "tuning" via hptuners. Car is on E50 3" DP 3" Exhaust. Pretty much an all out stock turbo build but I have an upgraded set sitting on a shelf waiting for these to go. They do dress up the engine bay and definitely show gains. @ the 2k price tag not worth it for a mildly modded Q but @ 800 it's still a good chunk of change but an easier pill to swallow.

IIRC, we had a member, maxlegends who ran his boost up to 24 PSI and blew his engine up. Are you still on stock turbos? If so, 24 PSI is way off the efficiency curve for the stock turbos and you're mainly generating heat, not power.

It's amazing how much abuse these motors and transmissions can handle I have 130k hard miles on both making way above stock power for most of those miles and car feels stronger than ever. Haven't blown anything up yet except turbos. Turbos are definitely the weak link. I also do all my own maintenance on a strict schedule.
