Hi Guys,
I decided to tackle the heat exchanger install this weekend. It was relatively simple, however I ran into a snag with the placement of the OEM oil cooler since the Red Sport has 2 water pumps. There were no instructions or photos available online to reference so I included them below.
This video on the Burger Motorsports website was referenced for disassembly and installation. Pictures to reference for oil cooler placement below.
An OEMTOOLS 24444 Coolant System Refiller was used to properly refill the system. Instructions on how to use it are here.
Getting the car up in the air and removing the front wheels allows for additional clearance and simplifies the removal of the front fascia.
The whole job shouldn't take you more than a day and is well worth the effort considering what a shop will charge for the install. It's also helpful to understand how things work when diagnosing any possible issues in the future. Finally, the tools required for this install are good to have on hand for future use if you plan on maintaining the car yourself (highly advised).
Factory location of the OEM oil cooler and 2nd water pump located next to passenger side headlight.
Burger Motorsports suggested placement of the oil cooler above the heat exchanger. (does not take into account the 2nd water pump pictured above)
A passage was cut in the passenger side ducting to reroute the 2 lines to the oil cooler.
Lines ran through the new passage. Make sure they are not pinched and do not come into contact with sharp edges or hot surfaces. I added a small piece of hose to eliminate contact with the sharp plastic edge.
2nd water pump removed from mount but not disconnected. This allows for clearance to connect the lines to the relocated oil cooler.
Additional pictures for reference when relocating the oil cooler. The mounts on top of the HX (included) have been reversed and the oil cooler is mounted behind the center vertical support.
Bleeding the coolant system. Be sure to refill the coolant from an elevated source.
Please reply here if you have any questions.

- Basic metric socket/wretch sets
- Drill
- Screwdrivers
- OEMTOOLS 24444 Coolant System Refiller
- Small air compressor
- Towels/paper towels to prevent scratches to the front fascia while removing/sitting on ground during install and cleaning up coolant
- A plastic receptacle to catch the coolant when draining the OEM heat exchanger
