Guys I found something online. So there is a similar gauge cluster just like the q50. It's in the q70 and i checked if they had lcds. Big surprise.... Yes, indeed. Q70s have an lcd alternative that you can buy online. Prob on Ali express but if anyone wants to try it our cough cough nick wink wink if you like sneeze sneeze just to try it out. But yeah

Good luck

I haven't seen any digital clusters for the Q50, but if anyone can figure it out, it's probably nickdaria.
I just made this account like 3 minutes ago just so I can comment under this:
I have 2016 Q50 2.0t premium, and I’m on board with this. I see so many older cars out there getting these all digital clusters, like BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, etc, yet nothing is done for Infiniti. Besides the tesla after market displays, which is cool and all but can definitely be done better (including no android text boot screen), a full digital touch dashcam display gor the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 would be great, and honestly should have been added by Infiniti themselves in remaking the interiors.

Okay so I was bored on AliExpress today and I saw someone finally made one for the Q50. Probably the same people that it for the Q70 since it uses the same software. Since it’s Linux based I can’t image it being too hard to code a new OS with the actual Infiniti Font and better looking gauges etc.

EDIT: Removed the link as I got in contact with the factories/stores attempting to sell a “Q50 Digital Cluster”. After looking at the images, they are all selling a cluster made for a Y62 Patrol and rebranding it for a Q50-Q70

I really like this, but for the price of be nervous as can be about reliability, accuracy, functionality, and if it's available in good English, bad English, or hell if it's available in English at all!

****, it's a scam. Look at the dash behind the steering wheel. Totally different car. They just photoshopped a Q50 wheel into the pic.

It looks to be a Q70 on the picture. They Q70/Q50 share the same connector along with many other Nissans. The only difference is the Q50 has a different plug for power. I found this out when trying a Nissan cluster on my Q. The harness that carries all the info is the same but the power wire was different. I’m also skeptical but, I think that it is possible that it wouldn’t take much for them to convert this to be used on a Q50/Q60. Again this could all mean nothing and they are branding the Q70 cluster as a Q50 one to scam people.

What do you do about your odometer reading?

Based on this video I found of the same cluster on an armada (all the clusters are made by the same mfg) there’s a password you have to input in advanced settings and change things like the odometer and size of gas tank. I know that’s tricky for mileage fraud, but don’t most cars store mileage information in other computers?

(Side note: in this install video you can that connector I was talking about earlier.

Having the same connector is a great start, provided they're pinned out the same to

Okay, So I currently have one of these jumper harnesses for my paddles. I mapped out the pin-out for each wire to the Q70 harness which the digital cluster would be expecting the signals from. I wonder if hypothetically this would work as both cars share most of the same signals. I can just use the jumper harness, de-pin, and re-pin to the appropriate locations.

Sounds to like it should work. If you're seriously considering this, please document it here. I, and I'm sure many others, would be interested in how it works out

I definitely want to try with a stock Q70 cluster first to see if I can get it work properly. That would make the fully digital one plug and play. My only concern is if the CAN signals are used for the same things. If anyone has some insight into how those can signals work, would love to know.

Calling @nickdaria. Nick Daria, come to the courtesy phone please.

I don't think this cluster is the best idea IMO. Aside from the fact that I don't think the interface looks good, there's the following:
  1. The cluster broadcasts a market information signal which informs other modules on the car of some factory data. I see no way to program this.
  2. The odometer on the cluster is the only odometer on the car. I don't like the ability to change that manually.
  3. You're putting untested (objectively cheaper) hardware onto your cars internal CAN bus. This isn't like plugging a sketchy OBD module into the gateway, the cluster is on a protected section of the CAN bus. We have no idea what kind of software practices, testing, or QC went into this thing. All it takes is a bad solder joint or some edge case bug to completely shut down the vehicle at any point.
  4. Even though it says Linux, I highly doubt they have made public any materials or code for developing for this thing. As cool as that would be (and reassuring), that effectively makes this thing an uphill battle to reverse engineer when you could just go DIY.

I 100% understand your concerns. The internals of that cluster are most likely made as cheap as possible. More sophisticated clusters in other platforms copy over the information from the original using a T-Harness which is a lot better than allowing someone to do it themselves. After looking into what else is available for any other Nissan/Infiniti I did find there are some options out there for the Y62 Patrol/QX80. Only option for something oem is the new QX60 which still has that same 40-pin plug. But even then like you mentioned there are signals that the cluster sends that can’t be programmed.

@nickdaria just sent you a follow on IG.

Trying to pick your brain on some mods I'm doing to my 2016 Q50 RS.

One being the upgrade to the instrument gage display

Just finished upgraded the 2 screens to just the one and I'm so glad I did
Which Tesla style did you go with and how is it?

Considering getting one in the future, but one question. When using the GPS (Google maps and others), do the directions show up in the middle digital cluster while driving too?
