True, I was going off sound clips. If it’s too much drone, I can swap out the LDP to another aftermarket pair that are resonated. Thanks for the heads up. Once the exhaust comes in I’ll give an update
Yeah, interested to know how it works out with MR LDPs and FI non-resonated CB. Please do report. The MR LDPs with my non-resonated Stillen CB was unbearable around 2k RPMs. Swapped in resonated HKS LDPs and barely helped. Added some in-line resonators into the Stillen mid-pipe and helped a lot!

Is this the brace you removed for the rattle. I have a slight rattle under harder acceleration after my mr downpipe install
Correct. Most of us have clearance issues with that brace with pretty much any aftermarket CB you choose. I ditched my brace completely. But maybe the smarter thing to do is add 1/4" - 1/2" spacers to increase clearance.

Just use the spacers with longer bolts.

I used spacers on my cross-member to add a gap between the exhaust piping and no rattle problems. Don't know if that is your problem though. It is simple to do to eliminate the known rattle problem if the cross-member is touching the exhaust piping.

So I got my Invidia Gemini catback installed. Along with Megan racing LDP. All I can say is, I understand why @Jonjostar disappeared, I've been taking every opportunity to drive the car. Thoroughly enjoying the set up. Beautiful tone, no highway drone at cruise speed ~ 115 km/h... feeling the torque gains too. o_Oo_O

I will post sound clips eventually, probably will get around to making video tomorrow night...

Very nice to hear! (y)

I'm just curious, but I'm not sure what rasp sounds like. Can anyone describe the sound or link me to a video of it?

Installed the Megan Racing Lower Downpipes on my Q50. Install took a couple of hours. Doing it on a 90+ degree day and on the driveway was a PITA, not to mention the issue of rusty bolts(had to use some PB Blaster and wait on some bolts), and being careful not to snap any studs or bolts.

The Megan Racing downpipes replace the stock restrictive factory downpipe with a high flow stainless steel downpipe that improves horsepower and torque to get the most potential from your engine.

A high flow downpipe replaces one of the most restrictive parts of your exhaust system and is an excellent complement to other aftermarket exhaust components such as headers or an exhaust system.

Megan Racing downpipes are stainless steel and polished to a mirror like finish and constructed using beautiful and strong welds. Smooth bends reduce turbulence and give your exhaust the straightest path to reduce back pressure.

Solid quality, and no fitment issues, no CEL. I ended up using my own better quality hardware, and stock gaskets because they ones they provide are not the best quality in comparison to the stock gaskets. I also added high temp RTV, and cleaned the O2's and added anti-seize.

The sound is definitely louder, I can definitely feel the difference having it installed. The car feels quicker, and more torque-y. I dont have any rasp or drone. It gives the car a more deeper, meaner tone, and the revs!!! Oh man the revs and downshifts sounds soooo goood!!!! I will try my best to add some clips.

One thing to note, and Im not sure if its related...Is that after I went on a test drive I was hearing some vibration...Yikes! But after I had a chance to put the car on a lift saw that my X pipe was slightly touching the brace underneath. I didnt have the vibration and noise before the install.

To remedy this I added some spacers/washers and it raise the clearance a bit. That solved my vibration issue, and now the car is running and sounding amazing. I also spoke to BoostInMotion to see if he had the same issue but he just removed the brace altogether for his, so theres an alternative.

Definitely worth the purchase. I got mine new for $155 and after taxes $165.27 from an ebay seller.

I took some pictures (attached) of the overall process. View attachment 93070 View attachment 93071 View attachment 93072 View attachment 93073 View attachment 93074 View attachment 93075 View attachment 93076 View attachment 93077 View attachment 93078 View attachment 93079
Did you just take the old gaskets off the original pipes and put them onto the new one?

Ohhh okay okay. I guess that's just how it is. Is there no way of reducing the loud rattle rasp ? It's pretty obnoxious.
I fixed rasp by cutting the CBE and adding Vibrant resonators. It reduced volume as well but it became a nice rumble instead of a raspy exhaust while maintaining 100% of the performance benefits of a CBE + LDP combo.

Hi guys
I recently got used set of Megan Racing downpipe. But, I'm debating if I should install them or not, because I'm worried about the lack of bracket on the pipes can cause material fatigue somewhere on the exhaust or turbos with time due to an increase in range of movement with vibrations. Any thoughts if I'm just overthinking it or if I have a point?

I had (still do, uninstalled) the MR LDPs (no bracket) installed for a little while, with no issues. I bought HKS LDPs (with brackets) only for the resonators which didn't help all that much. Adding downstream resonators in my resonator-less CB is what really helped. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I say go for it.
