iOS 7 is expected to be released sometime inSeptember. I expect the Infinti update will be some time soon after that.
Gandhi - That's my thinking too. I just made such a comment in another thread. I still haven't received an answer as to the support for 'iOS in the Car' after iOS 7 is released. I want to know if the Q50 intends to support it once released.

Nissan and Infiniti were listed by Apple in their WWDC presentation as one of many manufacturers supporting iOS in the car. I posted some links to some articles that discuss iOS in the car thread here:

I have no inside info, just speculation. I just think timing works out quite well based on what has been posted here on when the next Q50 update is scheduled (with support for InfinitiApps) and when iOS 7 is expected to be released.

Agreed. I'm just curious about the timing of the Q50 release and wondering what their relationship is with Apple. This release may have been too early. Who knows. If they planned this right, all that should be needed is a software update post iOS7 release.

Texting in the Q50 seems to work with Android and Blackberry right now. Not sure about Windows. iPhone date TBD. My guess (just a guess) is that we'll see it with the software update currently scheduled for September that will allow side-loading of apps from a tethered iPhone (or, I think, BT-linked Android). Doesn't matter if you have iPhone 4s or 5, neither work.

Remember, however, that you can get Siri to read you your text messages, and you can dictate them to the phone over BT. So we're talking about a small feature-add here, not the world-ending dealbreaker some people want to make it out to be.

I agree this small feature is not a deal breaker. However, it could be an indication of issues that Nissan/Infiniti did not work out with Apple and similar incompatibilities we see with Apple and other interfaces. If Infiniti didn't prepare this car for 'iOS in the Car' on the release of IOS7, Apple consumers will NOT be happy. Native integration needs to happen. Infiniti has gone too long with 'work arounds' and not-always-working features for iPhones. I've had constant problems with both of my Infiniti vehicles, one a 2011 and one a 2010.

do u love the car? give up the iphone =)
Do u love your iphone, give up the car =)

i phone can connect thru USB, for now
Have to agree. This has been a recurring theme on several different forums I've been on for several different platforms (cars, audio, video, etc.).

Every time iwhatever users have issues, they want to blame the manufacturer of the car/amplifier/TV. You do realize that Apple has no reason to try and make their products work well with anything other than Apple products. When you buy an Apple product you are buying into an "ecosystem" where everything will work flawlessly together because everything is proprietary. They don't want you buying non-Apple products and have no incentive to work with other interfaces.

Remember, Infiniti plans on selling this car worldwide. The rest of the world has far more Android phones/devices than iAnything. Worldwide, Android is outselling iPhone by larger than 2 to 1 margins - so from a business sense, it doesn't make sense to focus on features for the iPhone.

Will Infiniti get things to work with the iPhone updated IOS? Probably. Will they do it fast enough for iPhone users? Nope.

Funny that this ultimate goal for Android marketing (to switch iPhone users to Android) might just b achieved by the the car industry!! :D. I would assume almost all adult iPhone users are drivers, AND more likely interested in high tech in their daily rides! Unexpected big win for Android! Or not (unexpected), maybe well-planned? SMOOTH! :p :) )

- Will b killer material for TV ads for Android against iOS .. ;)

That's interesting. I never noticed that option when connecting an iPhone to a car before. Now I want to go home and test this out! Thanks for the info jdp83

Works perfectly. Thanks for the tip!

Hey- those of with Pebbles and having the issue this thread is discussing - have you tried turning off your Pebbles / comms to the iphone and then tested the Q50 integration? I remember some conversation in early Pebble threads about people having general issues when connected to the Pebble and their car bluetooth at the same time. This isn't Q50 related. I'm wondering though if that sort of issue is inhibiting this functionality in the Q50.
