Let me attach this picture I only need to know which wire is the tachometer and temperature. See in the picture they are the only wires note labeled with a color.

 

The tachometer gets its signal from the TCM via the CAN communication network. The engine coolant temperature gauge gets its signal from the ECM via the CAN communication network.

What are you trying to do?

 

I'm now making a custom fiberglass dashboard. I already redid the whole front got all that ugly plastic off. So on the dash I'm putting A/F , boost , temperature and RPM gauge pods on the drive side and then putting a tablet with the jb4 app on it on the passenger side. But for the pods I'm just trying to tap into the wires that plug into the back of the oem gauge cluster. But I just had a thought can I tap into the jb4 so that way the gauges say the exact same thing as the gauges on the jb4 app.

First pic is nothing on front end. Second will be with normal lights on. And third I'll try to get with the turn signals on

I'm no CANbus expert, but I don't think you can simply tap into the tach or water temp signals like you want to do.

 

Knowing my luck probably not. I was just hoping it could be that simple.
Also how do you add the signature on here were you have what's all on your car. Honestly I should just give up on electronics guess them kicking my butt here lately is my sign I'm getting old. Lol

Go up to the right-hand corner of the forum webpage and click on your avatar (Account Details). Click on Account Settings. On the left-hand side you will see a list of settings. Go down to Signature and click on it. You'll bring up a field where you can list your car's pertinent information. Enter your information and click Save at the bottom. Done!

 

And it use to be all blue underneath and all i even had those lights that shot out on the sides and it looked like wings but I did keep getting pulled over. So I just switched to all bright white for awhile and they left me alone then after a couple months changed the grill to blue and they still leave me alone. Lol knock on wood lol

 

If you'd like, I can help. I do work with embedded systems that use CAN and you could knock this out with a Teensy 4.0/4.1 (cheap microcontroller with hardware CAN) and a CAN transceiver. You'd just need to tap power (with a +12v to 5v USB DC-DC) and CAN from the combination meter and it could output the temp/tach however you'd like.

It's a neat project and I'd love to help out.

 

I figured tapping into the CANbus required some hardware.

Okay so when I typed 2016 infiniti q50 3.0t smart auto kit I get this item is this it? So basically I'm still gonna open jb4 app on my phone then it will just mirror image to the top screen

 

Its so funny to me that bluetooth was the only way to go....and now hardwired is the only way to go if you do an SAK upgrade LOL.

 

I haven't heard of this kit or wire but I have both. I have the Bluetooth dongle and the wire connector for the jb4 so guess all I need is this SmartAuto Kit. But I love the gauges on the top screen that's exactly what I've been wanting. Truthfully I won't do that custom fiberglass dashboard and thank God for that. I can do anything like engine wise but when it comes to guess like finesse jobs i don't know its like I don't have that bone in me lol. I'm sure it would've turned out like crap but I'm always down for trying lol. Like I said before my biggest problem are my ocd usually when I do, do things they look good but I'll see one little blemish and I try to fix that then that little blemish turns big then when trying to fix that it just keeps getting worse and worse lol. So this might be my saving grace for a lot of wasted time.

If you knew which wire I would tap into for the paddle shifter.

 

Im honestly not sure but i can try to find it in the mechanic manual. Do you have the manual if not i can send it to you. Its huge and has everything.

Not quite. Pre 2018 (and some months of 2018) have the wiring there already. You can easily check by taking out 2 screws and dropping the steering trim.

If not, you need a harness that connects to the paddle shifter pull down inputs on the combination meter. These can be found all around.
